Bethel has served the Inglewood Community for 80 years. In the early 1930's when Trevecca Nazarene College was located in East Nashville, students and area housewives joined in "cottage prayer meetings" and asked God to raise up a new church in the Joywood Community (the area near Trinity Lane and Jones Avenue). Bethel became a neighborhood church for those who needed to walk to church. Meeting first in a barn-like structure, the members raised money to build a basement church on Trinity Lane. Adding the upper level and acquiring smaller buildings around the property, the church thrived in the 1950's and 1960's, reaching out to families in the immediate vicinity with an aggressive children's program and bus ministry.
