Bethel has served the Inglewood Community for 80 years. In the early 1930's when Trevecca Nazarene College was located in East Nashville, students and area housewives joined in "cottage prayer meetings" and asked God to raise up a new church in the Joywood Community (the area near Trinity Lane and Jones Avenue). Bethel became a neighborhood church for those who needed to walk to church. Meeting first in a barn-like structure, the members raised money to build a basement church on Trinity Lane. Adding the upper level and acquiring smaller buildings around the property, the church thrived in the 1950's and 1960's, reaching out to families in the immediate vicinity with an aggressive children's program and bus ministry.

In 1980 the congregation moved to Broadmoor Drive to a beautiful and spacious new facility. The church has enjoyed a unique sense of unity and purpose, following the leadership of only five senior pastors in 50 years.

In December of 2015 the church board, along with the Bethel congregation voted to partner with Nashville First Church of the Nazarene located in the same community with our mission focused on outreach to the East Nashville and Madison areas. Following the partnership, the congregation affirmed the recommendation and nomination of the church board and elected Bob Milburn as the Bethel Campus Pastor.

The Church of the Nazarene is an evangelical, missional, holiness denomination with its Global Ministry Center in Lenexa, Kansas, just outside Kansas City. Nearly 700 missionaries represent the Church of the Nazarene in 160 world areas, and the denomination supports eight liberal arts colleges, a seminary, and a Bible college in the United States.
